“Quite simply, one of the most original compositional voices of our times” (Denver Post), the acclaimed Finnish composer Kaija Saariaho will become the first female composer to have an opera appear at the Metropolitan Opera in more than a century, when L’Amour de Loin opens in December 2016. Celebrating the work of this brazen female musician, soprano AMANDA DEBOER BARTLETT will perform Saariaho’s seminal piece for soprano and electronics, “Lohn” along with other 21st century works by composers influenced by her music.
