Helicopter Day is an indoor and outdoor event held at the Strategic Air & Space Museum in celebration of aviation careers and the history of helicopters. Spectators will be able to watch in wonder as law enforcement, commercial and private helicopters fly over the horizon and land right in front them. The helicopters begin their decent at 10:00am. After the helicopters land spectators can visit with helicopter pilots, including law officials, about their careers and get a firsthand view of each aircraft. Helicopter rides will be available and are scheduled through Galaxy Enterprises of Holdrege, Neb. on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Inside the museum, activities are planned throughout the day. Included in these activities will be a special visit from the Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo, a drone workshop and demonstration, make-and-take projects in the museum’s Science Zone, museums bounce house and theater offerings are free, and planetarium shows and simulator rides are open.   The event will be held from 10am until 2pm rain or shine but guests may want to check the website for updates.

The event is free to the public for outside activities and general admission applies for the indoor activities. For more information visit www.SASMuseum.com or call Amy at 402.944.3100×253.
