Revela, formally known as the American Institute of Management (AIM), has taken a big step towards preparing for the next 25 years of improving clients’ leadership abilities.  According to the company’s owner, Andrea Fredrickson, the second generation to lead the company, the name change to Revela represents the company’s unique approach to helping client’s reveal their strengths and utilize those strengths to become better leaders. 

Fredrickson and her father, Wayne Nielsen, started the company in 1989 and transitioned the company to Fredrickson last year. Many of the firm’s clients are, like Revela, privately held organizations that have succession planning needs beyond the fiscal aspects.  “Succession planning always takes into account the financial side of the equation,” said Fredrickson.  “We find that privately held leaders want to make sure the next generation is also prepared to take on the challenges of running a business from a leadership perspective.” 

Fredrickson acknowledged that like many of Revela’s clients, her father wanted to make sure she was well prepared to run the business successfully.  “Maybe we work so well with family-owned businesses because we can empathize with the joys–and challenges– that comes from working within family dynamics,” she said. 

Revela works with clientele all over the United States with a long history of working with manufacturers in the Midwest.  Their approach to instilling sustained improvement in the workplace involves multiple sessions and thorough follow up to ensure newly adopted behaviors stick for the long term.

The company holds an annual event to help all levels of management think differently about the way they lead.  This year’s event, titled, “Inspire! Unleashing Possibilities,” will be held May 2, 2014, at the Mid America Center in Council Bluffs.  This will be the company’s thirteenth year to host the half-day event.  There is no charge to attend but registration is required through the company’s new website at revelagroup.com.
