The 5th annual Omaha Farmers Market at the Charles Drew Health Center opens July 22nd. The produce-only Market is located at 30th and Grant Streets every Wednesday starting July 22 through August 26 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. In 2011, the Omaha Farmers Market created this market to give the North Omaha community an opportunity to purchase fresh, local produce.

Market goers can expect sweet corn, broccoli, cabbage, cucumbers, garlic, green beans, peppers, tomatoes and much more during a trip to the Market. Visitors can also look forward to watermelon in early August.

Customers with credit or debit cards can purchase credit tokens at the Information Booth if they wish to buy from vendors who do not accept them. Also, customers with EBT cards can purchase SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) tokens at the Information Booth. The vendors at the Market also accept Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) and Women, Infants and Children (WIC) checks. For the entire run of the Charles Drew Market, the Sherwood Foundation and BlueCross BlueShield Nebraska provide a match of five dollars in SNAP tokens with any SNAP purchase; more information is available onsite at the Information Booth.

The Omaha Farmers Market at the Charles Drew Health Center is brought to you in partnership with the Omaha Farmers Market, Charles Drew Health Center and Douglas County Health Department, and is sponsored by The Sherwood Foundation, BlueCross and BlueShield of Nebraska, WOWT Channel 6, and Q98.5.
