‘After Blue’ The Joni Mitchell Project To Be Played In Trio Format

Omaha Performing Arts presents Tierney Sutton “After Blue” The Joni Mitchell Project in the Scott Recital Hall at the Holland Performing Arts Center on Friday, March 27, at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $35 in advance and $40 the day of the show, and are available at TicketOmaha.com, 402.345.0606 or at the Ticket Omaha Office inside the Holland Center, 1200 Douglas St. Sutton’s performance is a part of the 2014/15 1200 Club Series.

Born in Omaha in 1963, Tierney Sutton is a jazz vocalist deemed “a serious jazz artist who takes the whole enterprise to another level” by The New York Times. A six-time Grammy® nominee as both a recording artist and arranger, Sutton is considered a “singer’s singer,” but often also described as a “musician’s singer” who uses her voice like an instrument. She earned her fifth consecutive Grammy nomination for Best Jazz Vocal Album for her 2013 album, After Blue, an intimate, jazz-inspired re-imagining of the music of Joni Mitchell. Her two performances in Omaha will feature songs from that album performed in a trio format with jazz flute legend Hubert Laws and guitar virtuoso Larry Koonse.
