Nebraska Families Collaborative (NFC) invites you to attend its next Community Advisory Board Meeting on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Omaha Public Schools (TAC Building), Room 5072 located at 3215 Cuming Street in Omaha. The theme of this meeting is “Challenges in Raising Foster Children” presented by Bobby Loud, Director of Military and Veterans Support Services at Metropolitan Community College.

Mr. Loud is a licensed foster parent who has much experience working with high risk children and youth. He will discuss some of the challenges of dealing with race and raising foster children from both a personal and a professional perspective. He will also address the needs of working with teen males and how to establish good community contacts to help with a variety of issues affecting youth. Mr. Loud will share about educational opportunities for youth since he works for Metropolitan Community College and he understands the challenges youth face in post-secondary education.

The public is invited and encouraged to attend. A portion of each meeting is set aside for public comments and questions. Also, a light meal is provided for all in attendance. Please contact NFC with questions at (402) 492-2500.

 

About the Community Advisory Board: The Community Advisory Board is made up of people who are child welfare stakeholders in Douglas and Sarpy Counties. The Board discusses issues of concern in child welfare, including foster care, visitation, family team meetings and treatment services. Community advisory board members meet on the fourth Wednesday of every month from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at locations around Omaha.
