After months of preparation, Midtown Crossing retailer Hutch is ready to cut the ribbon on a new, dramatically larger location; a space almost four times as big as its previous Midtown Crossing store.

“What excites me the most, other than the re-opening itself, is the mix of products we have put together,” said co-owner Nick Huff.
Located at 3220 Farnam St., Hutch will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony with the Greater Omaha Chamber today at 9:30 a.m. The store will open to the public on Saturday, March 7, at 10 a.m.

More space means more choice for customers. The new location will feature Hutch’s signature assortment of midcentury modern furnishings and décor – but now, that’s only the beginning.

“We are working with over 40 modern brands and 20 local makers as well as found, vintage items from across the Midwest,” said Huff. “Our local makers provide so much value to our city, and we’re honored to be working with them to showcase their exclusive designs for Hutch.”

To ensure a unique and interesting shopping experience, Huff said Hutch will continually bring in fresh inventory. In addition, a new in-house partner, Jessica McKay of Birdhouse Interior Design, will provide interior design services and help stylize and stage the entire store.

McKay said, “Since first collaborating together at Maha 2013, I knew that the fellas at Hutch were my people. It makes perfect sense that we piggyback our services onto one another, and by doing so, we can continue to inspire and challenge each other to give Omaha an amazing resource for furniture, art and design.”
Huff and store co-owner Brandon Beed opened their original Midtown Crossing store in August 2013. They attribute their rapid growth to their ability to share ideas and take calculated/non-calculated risks.

“Brandon’s and my ideas are always ten steps ahead of where we are. It’s been so fun to see our ideas follow us as we figure out how to make it all happen. An encouraging and supportive atmosphere has really been an integral part of our creative process, keeping our ideas flourishing and momentum strong.”
Huff added, “We also owe our gratitude to our community and how it has responded to what we are doing.”
