KANEKO will host annual camps for students ages 12-15. Students will engage with local professionals to learn about the principles and processes of design and more. Each four-day camp provides a group of 16 students a variety of exciting exercises and fun activities.

KANEKO CAMPS:

Architecture Camp
Throughout the week, students will participate in visual literacy lessons, a walking tour of architecture in Omaha’s Old Market District, digital modeling and 3D technologies, visits to local design firms, physical model building and architectural drafting.

Video Game Design Camp
Campers will be introduced to the history of game theory, learn about rule-based systems and interactive narrative designs, practice creating games collaboratively and explore what it means to engage in meaningful play. Students will also be exposed to analog game forms, the Unity 3D development environment, as well as Blender and Adobe Photoshop software applications.

3D Prototyping
This camp focuses on Computer-Aided Design (CAD), 3D modeling and 3D printing. Students will learn to design their own 3D models using programs like Tinkercad and Sketchup.

Campers will get a firm understanding of advanced science and technology concepts related to rapid prototyping, and learn firsthand how the technology is used in art, design, medicine and manufacturing. Participants will design, print and take their creations home to share with friends and family.

This camp is made possible by the generous contributions from Fat Brain Toys, an Omaha-based retailer and developer of educational toys, games and gifts with a reputation as an innovator in the industry for creating high-quality design, design-focused educational toys.
