Nationally Renowned Choir & Special Guests to Present Two Performances
OMAHA, Neb. (November 11, 2016) – Joyful Noise: A Gospel Christmas featuring Salem Baptist Church returns to the Holland Performing Arts Center this December. Omaha Performing Arts, in collaboration with Salem Baptist Church, presents two performances of this holiday tradition on December 4 at 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at the Holland Performing Arts Center’s Kiewit Hall, 1200 Douglas St. Tickets are $15, and are available for purchase at the Ticket Omaha box office inside the Holland Performing Arts Center, by calling (402) 345-0606, or online at TicketOmaha.com.*
Joyful Noise features the harmonious sounds of Omaha’s nationally-recognized and Grammy®-nominated Salem Baptist Church choir, which has more than 70 members, along with special guests Anita Wilson and Ted Winn & Sheri Jones-Moffett of the Stellar Award-winning gospel duo Ted & Sheri. Joyful Noise: A Gospel Christmas features an upbeat Christmas celebration blending classics and new music, drama and choreographed dance. Led by senior pastor Rev. Dr. Selwyn Q. Bachus and Minister of Music Ananias Montague, the best of the church’s fine arts programs will be showcased at the concerts.
Bachus said, “We’re thankful to Omaha Performing Arts for this momentous partnership. It provides a platform for continued arts education as well as the opportunity to expose even more residents to the state-of-the-art Holland Center.”
“We are grateful for our ongoing partnership with Salem Baptist Church, which continues to strengthen and deepen,” said Omaha Performing Arts President Joan Squires. “Beyond this event, we work together on various special performances including our Celebrate 10 Concert last year. The church serves as host for some of our master classes, and this past summer, “A Work on a Wheel: Music and Fine Arts Camp” was held at the Holland, where participants explored many facets of the arts through classes that included vocal lessons, dance, songwriting and more. It was great fun to come to work and see these classes everywhere in the building!”
Montague added, “Salem is extremely excited Omaha Performing Arts reached out to us. This collaboration has allowed our community to have access to a wide variety of diverse fine arts educational events.”
Omaha Performing Arts has partnered with ConAgra Foods for ConAgra Foods’ Shine the Light on Hunger program November 1 through December 31, 2016. Patrons are encouraged to bring canned food and other non-perishable items when they attend a performance at the Holland Center or Orpheum Theater. All donations collected will support the Food Bank for the Heartland.
