Jason Riley will speak on “Federal spending’s impact on low-income Americans” on Wednesday, October 14 at 8:00 a.m. in the Harper Center Auditorium – 602 North 20th Street – at Creighton University in Omaha, NE.

Jason Riley is a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute and a columnist for the Wall Street Journal.  He joined the Wall Street Journal in 1994, was promoted to senior editorial writer in 2000, and was made a member of the editorial board in 2005.  Riley writes opinion pieces concerning politics, economics, education, immigration, and race.  He is a frequent public speaker as well as a longtime commentator for Fox News.

Riley is the author of two books:  Let Them In:  The Case for Open Borders (2008) in which he argues for a more free-market orientated U.S. immigration policy; and Please Stop Helping Us:  How Liberals Make it Harder for Blacks to Succeed (2014), which examines government efforts to help the black underclass.  He previously worked for USA Today and the Buffalo News.  Riley holds a B.A. in English from SUNY-Buffalo. 

The event is sponsored by Creighton University’s Institute for Economic Inquiry.  A continental breakfast will be available at 7:30, and the program will run from 8:00 – 9:00 a.m.  Visitor parking will be available in the upper deck of the lot on 21st and Cass Street.  The event is open to the public, but advance reservations are requested.  RSVP.
