Government Affairs June Webinar

Wednesday, June 3, 2015
12:00-1:00pm
Via GoToWebinar

Presenter:  Kelli Lieurance, JD, Baird Holm

Title:  “Hard Labor: Pregnancy Accommodations under State & Federal Law”

TOPIC: In March, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of the plaintiff in the pregnancy discrimination case Young v. United Parcel Service, but in doing so the Court clearly rejected the EEOC Guidance requiring that employers who provide accommodations to non-pregnant employees must provide the same accommodations to similarly limited pregnant employees.  At the same time, we have new developments under Nebraska law which now add pregnant women as a protected class of employees, and impose more stringent accommodation obligations on employers even beyond those discussed in the EEOC guidance.  This webinar will navigate these new developments, and review the basic requirements for pregnancy disability leaves and accommodations under federal and state law.  Learn how to administer reasonable accommodations, determine what is considered reasonable, protect employees’ rights, and protect your organization from liability.

This Session has been submitted for 1.0 hour of HR CREDIT from the HR Certification Institute.

This Program has been submitted for 1.0 hour of SHRM-CP recertification credit through SHRM Professional Development Certification.
