In Mexico during the holidays, tamales “are a culinary requirement, like Christmas cookies,” according to a New York Times article (http://nyti.ms/1hZOSh3). The traditional dish is made by filling corn masa (dough) with a variety of ingredients and wrapping the dough in cornhusks to steam or boil.
Cantina Laredo brings the Mexican tradition to Omaha this year, offering fresh-made beef and chicken tamales for holiday pick up. Tamales come with the restaurant’s homemade chili con carne (beef chili) or tomatillo sauce and may be picked up hot or chilled. The cost is just $16.95 per dozen.
