Miracle at Midtown, Midtown Crossing’s season-long celebration of togetherness and good cheer, opens tomorrow with a holiday triple play: the premiere of an unprecedented Holidays Lights Spectacular, Family Fun Day and the debut of this year’s Miracle at Midtown (formerly Miracle on Farnam) window displays.

Holiday Lights Spectacular | 7 p.m. nightly | Nov. 22, 2014 – Jan. 1, 2015

A sight and sound experience the likes of which Omaha has never seen before, the Holiday Lights Spectacular promises a vibrant, choreographed blend of Christmas music and light projected onto the Turner Park side of Midtown Crossing’s condominium buildings. The show will run approx. 20-minutes nightly.

“The question for us was: ‘How can we make a fabulous holiday tradition even better?’ Voila, offer our community a holiday experience that’s new to Omaha, brings people together and is guaranteed to make some memories. The Holiday Lights Spectacular is going to be the star on the tree that is our treasured Miracle at Midtown celebration,” said Molly Skold, Midtown Crossing’s vice president of marketing and communications.

The best viewing area is in the middle of Turner Park, facing west. Parts of the show will be visible from the promenade surrounding the park.

Family Fun Day | 3 – 6 p.m. | Nov. 22

Back for a second year, Family Fun Day will feature an opening day array of fun, free kid-focused activities, including:

  • · A window-to-window scavenger hunt
  • · Photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus
  • · Storytime with Ballet Nebraska’s Sugar Plum Fairy
  • · Dance Lessons & a Performance by Omaha Jitterbugs
  • · Storytime and Crafts with Local Author/Illustrator Mandy Gray and Lesley Lee
  • · Face painting
  • · Family yoga session
  • · Hot cocoa samples
  • · Cooking decorating
  • · Live carolers

“The holidays are all about family, fun and wonder – and who better to bring all of those elements together for us than Santa, Mrs. Claus and the elves? We’re excited to see the young – and the young at heart – enjoying an incredibly festive, fun time,” said Amanda Lustgraaf, Midtown Crossing’s Marketing Specialist.

Miracle at Midtown Holiday window displays | Nov. 22, 2014 – Jan. 1, 2015

Miracle at Midtown’s holiday window displays – a tribute to holidays past, present and future – will be unveiled on Nov. 22. This year, they will showcase the artistry and imagination of ten of the area’s most respected arts and cultural organizations:

  • · Love’s Jazz and Arts Center
  • · Omaha Community Playhouse
  • · Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium

All Miracle at Midtown activities, including Family Fun Day and the Holiday Lights Spectacular, are free to the public, three hours of garage parking included.

The window displays will be available for viewing all day, every day through New Year’s Day. The top three most miraculous displays, determined by public vote, will earn a donation courtesy of the Baer Foundation, a philanthropic endeavor that generously supports various charities, including Nebraska arts and educational agencies.
