Giving back to its communities: CenturyLink Foundation recognizes employee volunteerism with matching time grants in Omaha
$11,500 donated to local agencies  

OMAHA, Neb. – The CenturyLink Clarke M. Williams Foundation is rewarding employee volunteerism with $500 matching time grants earned by employees in Omaha. Fifteen CenturyLink employees each have earned $500 matching time grants to benefit nonprofit agencies in Omaha:

  • Susan Adkins and MidAmerica Boston Terrier Rescue
  • Jamie Zabrocki and MidAmerica Boston Terrier Rescue
  • Therese Banks and Hearts United for Animals
  • Kathy Cashell and Precious Memories Child Care, INC
  • Scott Johnson and United in Pride
  • Edward Kennedy and Bellevue Public School Foundation
  • Jeffrey Leege and Gretna Youth Sports Foundation
  • Susan Leuschen and The Omaha Sister Cities Association, Inc.
  • Theresa McBride and St. Albert Catholic High School
  • Alice Moore and Hunkapi Programs, Inc.
  • Kristina Ronfeldt and Boy Scouts of America
  • Trudi Shudak and Cardinal Youth Athletic Association
  • Perlie Whitley and St. Benedict the Moor Catholic Church
  • Thomas Bouche and Big Game Conservation Association  

Through the CenturyLink Clarke M. Williams Foundation’s Matching Time Grant program, CenturyLink employees have the opportunity to earn up to two grants of $500 per year for organizations such as 501(c)(3) nonprofits in good standing with the IRS, and public and nonprofit schools. Employees receiving the grants have volunteered 40 hours or more to their grant recipient within a six-month period.  

The Foundation distributed 774 matching time grants representing approximately 64,750 volunteer hours in 2014. These grants, totaling $387,000, help support 488 nonprofit organizations across the country.  

“We are proud that our employees are making a difference through volunteerism and embody our vision of improving lives in the communities where we work and live,” said Julie Darrington, CenturyLink’s vice president for Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota. “This is one of the many ways we encourage our employees to get involved at a local level.”
