Proceeds to benefit programs serving at-risk youth, families

Night in the Neighborhood LogoThe Completely KIDS Guild is hosting a brand-new fall fundraiser celebrating the nonprofit’s impact on families living in and around the neighborhood where Completely KIDS headquarters are located.

On Sept. 28, “Night in the Neighborhood: Celebrating 10 Years” will commemorate the move Completely KIDS made 10 years ago to its current location at 26th Street and St. Mary’s Avenue in the Park East Neighborhood. Additionally, the event marks 25 years of success under Executive Director Penny Parker.

In keeping with the theme, Night in the Neighborhood will take place just down the street from Completely KIDS headquarters at Founders One • Nine, 1915 Jackson St. The evening will embrace the culture and flair of the area’s Latino influences, and will include Latino-inspired food stations by Jeff Snow of Catering Creations, beer and margaritas, as well as many unique ways to give back to Completely KIDS.

Night in the Neighborhood will run from 5:30 to 9 p.m. with a live auction at 7 p.m. Reservations are $75 for individuals and $50 for young professionals (35 and under), and may be made at completelykids.org or (402) 397-5809.

Event chairs are Angela Rock and Christine Schulte under the leadership of Guild President Kate Brownrigg. Honorary chairs are Lynne and John Boyer, and Holly and Mike Boyer.

Though Completely KIDS has existed in the Omaha area under a national club program since 1920, the agency rebranded in 2011, a few years after its transition to Park East. The move positioned the agency at the heart of the community it serves.

Each year, Completely KIDS works with 2,000 Omaha-area kids, primarily between the ages of 4 and 14, and their families, many of which are living in poverty. These families predominantly live, work and play in South Omaha. The agency provides afterschool programs and family services, including classes and workshops for parents, at seven Omaha Public schools, one parochial school, three homeless shelters and at its building.
