Omaha Performing Arts presents Fredericks Brown in the Scott Recital Hall at the Holland Performing Arts Center on Thursday, March 19, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 the day of the show, and are available at TicketOmaha.com, 402.345.0606 or at the Ticket Omaha Office inside the Holland Center, 1200 Douglas St. Fredericks Brown’s performance is a part of the 2014/15 1200 Club Series.

Fredericks Brown is the collaboration of vocalist Deva Mahal and keyboardist Stephanie Brown, who are both songwriters with a penchant for lyrical storytelling. Their music fuses the cultural heritage of the duo: Mahal, the daughter of blues legend Taj Majal, draws on her rich soul and blues roots; and Brown’s sound is rooted in the organic Pacific sound of New Zealand. They released their album Out of the Rain in October 2010. Their 2013 EP, Glass House Mountains, has been co-created with Brooklyn-based Fen Ikner. They last performed in Omaha in 2013 as the opening act for World Blues at the Holland Center.

Fredericks Brown has performed alongside Etta James, Grace Potter and The Nocturnals, The Roots, Meshell N’Degeocello, Patti Smith, The Carolina Chocolate Drops, Jean Grae and more. They have worked with artists from Kanye West to Common, Fat Freddy’s Drop to Che Fu.
