OMAHA (July 17, 2014) – Reservations may now be made for the 2014 Big Red Tailgate. Attendees will support Completely KIDS, an Omaha nonprofit dedicated to serving at-risk youth and their families, while celebrating Husker pride.

This casual event will be held Sept. 12 at Embassy Suites La Vista, 12520 Westport Pkwy. The evening will feature a raffle, silent auction and cocktails, beginning at 6 p.m., with dinner and oral auction to follow at 7:30 p.m.

“We’re thrilled to once again host this Big Red spirit-filled event bringing together former Husker players and Completely KIDS supporters to raise money for this wonderful organization,” said Carrie Weiler, general co-chair. “Kick off your football weekend by joining us for a lot of fun!”

Last year, the Guild-sponsored Big Red Tailgate raised $230,000 for Completely KIDS. Completely KIDS ensures that its families have access to the knowledge and skills necessary to break the cycle of poverty. It’s the agency’s mission to educate and empower kids and families to create a safe, healthy, successful and connected community.

“Our committee is more than enthusiastic to support the work and mission of Completely KIDS in this way,” Weiler said. “On behalf of my co-chairs, we want to thank the tireless efforts of the volunteers who have put in time and money to ensure that this year’s event is another huge success.”

Amy and John Deardorff are serving as honorary chairmen. Andi Hallgren, Beth Raper and Weiler are this year’s general co-chairs. The 2014 Completely KIDS Guild president is Kris Schaff.

The 2014 Big Red Tailgate committee includes:  Ann Marie Abboud, Jennifer Alloway, Kate Betsworth, Kate Brownrigg, Annette Byman, Brenda Christensen, Mary Foley, Desri Gocken, Dana Gonzales, Amy Grohe, Pam Hession, Linda Hitzeman, Jessica Jaksha, Emily Jung, Lori Kardell, Nikki Kirshenbaum, Jenny Kluver, Kristin Lewis, Tonya Lewis, Amy Lindsay, Catherine Mahoney, Leslie Mayo, Sarah McGowan, Amy Parks, Kris Patton, Jennifer Peterson, Kara Plumb, Arlene Porzelt, Nola Schettler, Brenda Smith, Marjean Stamm, Janet Thayer, Ashley Trankle and Emily Wageman.
