‘12 Days of Giving’ to Support Business and Community Growth
First National Bank launched a city-wide “12 Days of Giving” effort to support locally-owned customer and non-customer businesses Monday, Nov. 13 through Wednesday, Nov. 22. As part of First National Bank’s commitment to the communities it serves, it will offer giveaways and special gifts across the Omaha area to encourage people to shop at locally-owned businesses over the next 12 days.
The first effort was held Monday in Aksarben Village at Jones Bros. from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.; and Voodoo Taco from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Other areas with “12 Days” events are Benson, the Blackstone District, Dundee, Midtown, Downtown and Elkhorn. A complete schedule is listed below, or can be obtained by following First National Bank of Omaha on Facebook and/or Twitter @FNBOmaha.
First National Bank believes supporting the growth of locally-owned business is fundamental to cultivating strong local economies, which is one of the bank’s eight core elements to creating successful communities. Local business tax dollars fund schools, emergency services and libraries and local business success is critical to the overall wellbeing of a community.
Local business supports job growth in the community and other factors, including:
- Dollars spent at local businesses are 58 percent more likely to stay local, according to the Maine Center for Economic Policy.
- Sixty-eight cents of every dollar spent at local businesses stay in the community, compared to forty-three cents at non-local businesses, according to a study by consulting firm, Civic Economics.
