KEYNOTE (12:00 – 1:00PM)
KEYNOTE SPEAKER:  DAVID BROWN, GREATER OMAHA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

“Telling the World – Omaha Doesn’t Coast!”

We are a vibrant place to live and work, a region flowing with innovative businesses, a superior quality of life and a world-class workforce. Hear more about the ways we’re moving our community forward, how Omaha compares to our peers and what we can do – together – to push our region to greater.

  1. The growth of business (increase in private wages, number of jobs created and low unemployment rate) and how that relates to hiring/retention – along with things we are doing, working with companies/organizations to help better sell Omaha to potential recruits and help to highlight Omaha to retain pipeline talent.
  2. Omaha has also seen a lot of growth in entrepreneurship and small business – with higher incomes – was going to talk about those opportunities to continue to foster that growth in attracting companies/startups here from the coasts.
  3. Quality of life – place making – ensuring we’re creating an environment, with what people need/want/expect from a community in order to foster growth from both a business and talent standpoint; what we can do to change perceptions and better tell our story – this is especially important for the YP/millennial workforce as they tend to first choose where they want to live and then find a job.

This Program has been pre-approved for 4.0 PDCs from SHRM’s NEW Professional Development Certification and 4.0 hours of HR recertification credit from HR Certification Institute.
