Cheer on Nebraska’s favorite team and score a huge win for kids and families at Big Red Tailgate, a fundraiser for Omaha nonprofit Completely KIDS.
Dress down in jeans and your favorite Husker shirt for this casual event on Friday at Embassy Suites La Vista, 12520 Westport Pkwy. The cocktail hour will begin at 6 p.m. with time to peruse many silent auction packages suited for sports fans, foodies, pet lovers, art enthusiasts and much more.
Dinner will follow at 7:30 p.m. with entertainment by Completely KIDS youth. The evening will end with an oral auction that features travel packages to a Colorado penthouse and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico; sports-themed packages for Husker and Creighton fans and more.
Last year’s Guild-sponsored Big Red Tailgate raised $230,000 for Completely KIDS. Completely KIDS ensures that its families have access to the knowledge and skills necessary to break the cycle of poverty. The agency educates and empowers kids and families to create a safe, healthy, successful and connected community.
“We’re thrilled to once again host this Big Red spirit-filled event bringing together former Husker players and Completely KIDS supporters to raise money for this wonderful organization,” said Carrie Weiler, general co-chair. “Kick off your football weekend by joining us for a lot of fun!”
Weiler is joined by Andi Hallgren and Beth Raper as this year’s event co-chairs. Honorary chairmen are Amy and John Deardorff.
Reservations may still be made at completelykids.org or by calling (402) 397-5809. Cost is $150 for patron reservations, $125 for regular reservations, and $75 for individuals ages 35 and under.
