A number of years into my career, I was approached to become a unit supervisor. At this point I was a high performing floor nurse and had thought about potentially getting into leadership. I also had a broad understanding of what my directors did, but I didn’t know the details. When I was asked about moving into management there were not many details given about what the role would actually entail. From talking to others that have gone through this process, this is typical for the journey.
