Beansmith coffee roasters, an Omaha specialty coffee company will host a barista latte art competition and product launch Aug. 20th from 7-9pm.

The coffee worlds equivalent of a battle, a latte art competition is where baristas go head-to-head each attempting to pour a perfect design in a cup of espresso.  Local competitors will balance craft, science and art to create different designs like, a heart, rosetta and a tulip.  Each design will then be judged on symmetry, contrast and complexity by a panel of judges.  First, second and third place baristas will take home prizes with bragging rights.

Beansmith will also be introducing a nitro infused cold brew coffee, which is a first from this specialty roaster who typically focuses on craft roasting at their La Vista location. “Our nitro cold brew has a velvety, creamy body, soft acidity with a balanced toffee flavor profile. The nitro infusion provides an awesome cascading head of foam just like a Guinness Draught”- Chad Jochum, Head Roaster at Beansmith. “We were meticulous about the blend and roast for our nitro cold brew.  It’s roasted and brewed to maximize sweetness and body.  Infuse that with nitrogen and you get a delicious drink that can be enjoyed from morning until night.”- Chris Smith, Founder of Beansmith.  The nitro infused coffee has been popular among companies like Stumptown Coffee Roasters out of Portland, OR and Cuvée Coffee out of Austin, TX but has yet to be seen around the Midwest.

Beansmith will be introducing this new product during their latte art competition Aug. 20th 2015 and has started the process of kegging their product to be served at restaurants and brew pubs near you.
