SANE/SART Founders, Child Welfare Advocate to be Honored
Concord Mediation Center to Host Annual ‘Pathways Award’ Luncheon June 1
Concord Mediation Center will host its annual “Pathways Award” Luncheon on Friday, June 19, from 11:15 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Field Club of Omaha, 3615 Woolworth Avenue.
The 2015 Pathways Award Luncheon will honor Heidi & Jeff Wilke and Kerri Davis.
Heidi and Jeff Wilke are the founders of The Heidi Wilke SANE/SART Survivor Program at Methodist Hospital. Following an attack in downtown Omaha, Heidi and her husband Jeff became acutely aware of the special needs of sexual assault. It was through their desire to help other survivors that the Heidi and Jeff Wilke SANE/SART Survivor Program was developed and opened in the Omaha area, providing healing and hope to survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence and human trafficking.
The Wilkes were chose as they demonstrate the qualities of the Pathways Award: Honoring those who have courageously opened their minds and hearts to the processes of conflict resolution involving healing, forgiveness, empathy, open communication and/or the ability to bring disparate communities together for the betterment of all.
Previous Pathways Award recipients include Omaha World-Herald columnist Mike Kelly and Fred Wilson, a Von Maur shooting survivor and inspirational model of grace and forgiveness.
Kerri Davis, an Adoption/Permanency Specialist with Nebraska Families Collaborative, will receive the Ron Volkmer Practitioner Award. Since 2008, she has assisted nearly 1,000 children achieve permanency through adoption in Douglas and Sarpy Counties. Davis has an energetic approach in advocating for the best interests of children, and understands the importance of collaborating with community stakeholders in efforts to finalize permanency for children.
The Ron Volkmer Award honors practitioners who apply Concord Mediation Center’s mission to their professional or volunteer conflict resolution efforts. Concord Mediation Center’s mission is to: Create pathways of constructive dialogue and conflict resolution through consensus building activities of mediation, facilitation and education.
Former honorees are Creighton University Law Professor Ronald Volkmer, for whom the award is named, and Concord Mediation Center’s Lori McKeon, Child Welfare Facilitation Coordinator.
Concord Mediation Center is the approved center of the Nebraska Supreme Court’s Office of Dispute Resolution for Douglas and Sarpy Counties. Since 1999, Concord Mediation Center has provided exceptional service in mediation, facilitation and conflict resolution training.
