Each year, the Urban League of Nebraska recognizes corporations and organizations for their contributions to diversity and inclusion practices in the workplace and in the community. The Greater Omaha Chamber is honored to receive the Corporate Outreach Award at the 2017 Equal Opportunity Awards for the Diversity and Talent Inclusion Survey and Strategic 4Sight initiative.
In partnership with Urban League of Nebraska Young Professionals, the Greater Omaha Chamber conducted the 2017 Diversity and Talent Inclusion Survey. The project was motivated by a 2015 YP survey, conducted by the Chamber, that found Black and African-American YPs were 5 to 6 times less likely to recommend Omaha than any other race. Results inspired an ambitious action plan to improve Black and African American satisfaction and perceptions of the Omaha community.
Furthermore, throughout 2017, the Greater Omaha Chamber, United Way of the Midlands and Urban League of Nebraska worked with community leaders to develop a bold, economic identity for our community called Strategic 4Sight. This initiative will transform Greater Omaha into a more future-focused version of itself – making the region an even better place to live, work and play.
Moving forward is always a team effort, and recognition of good work helps steer our collective endeavors to widely inclusive futures that mean bigger tomorrows, bolder vision and opportunities to excel every day. We do our best work when we do it for others and are humbled to receive this award.
