Omaha, NE. Feb. 11 – More than 200 businesses in Greater Omaha kicked off Careerockit February 10, Nebraska and Iowa’s, weeklong business/student learning initiative featuring 23,000-plus experiences for children and youth.
“We are excited to show students career opportunities in the public utility industry that supply life-essential services to their communities,” said Mark Doyle, president of Metropolitan Utilities District. “Students will tour one of our water treatment facilities and participate in hands-on activities with our employees to understand the process involved in making safe, high quality drinking water.”
Metropolitan Utilities District joins Lozier again this year as a supporting sponsor of the program, which is the nation’s largest concurrent career experience of its kind.
“Careerockit has been an outstanding experience for our students,” said Leah Fischer, guidance counselor, Scribner-Snyder Secondary School. “Careerockit has helped to create an interest in possible careers and connects our students with future employers.” This is the third year Scribner-Snyder has participated in the program.
A program of the Greater Omaha Chamber, Careerockit 2020 serves students in Cass, Dodge, Douglas, Sarpy, Saunders, Pottawattamie and Washington counties.
