Supplier Diversity Council Reopens Omaha Office - Appoints New Director On Tuesday, May 17, the Midwest Minority Supplier Development Council (MMSDC) announced the appointment of Karen A. Watson as the new director of their Omaha office. The MMSDC and the Greater Omaha Chamber have a long history and synergistic relationship. In 1973, the Greater Omaha Chamber’s minority economic development council formed the Great Plains Minority Supplier Development Council (GPMSDC), MMSDC’s predecessor, which served Nebraska and eastern Iowa. Winsley Durand, the Greater Omaha Chamber’s director of minority economic development, served GPMSDC as a board member during its last years, prior to the merge with MMSDC. The Chamber is helping Watson make connections and is facilitating access to key decision makers. Watson is an ex-officio Chamber board member. The Chamber and MMSDC are in the midst of planning joint educational sessions. Leveraging of resources, both human and financial, is in the best interest of growing minority-owned business in Greater Omaha. |
