Omaha: Model for Developing a Community Efforts to build on the “up and coming” reputation of Omaha are making a difference! A Huffingtonpost.com article by Nick Seguin, manager of entrepreneurship at the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, discusses what he learned during a breakfast the Kauffman Foundation hosted at the Greater Omaha Chamber during the recent Big Omaha conference. His final paragraph sums up Omaha’s efforts to build an entrepreneurial culture, “Big Omaha and its namesake city are prime examples of a community consciously changing itself. The team at Silicon Prairie News, the universities, big companies, the media, the government and the workforce are working to build a culture. I believe all of the national speakers attending the conference agree: communities around the country can take notes from Omaha. The city is a model for developing a community that is critical to the success of new companies.” Big Omaha organizer, Silicon Prairie News, was recently honored with the Chamber’s Big O! Excellence Innovator Award — this article is evidence that the award was well-earned. This is just one of the many articles that came out of the Big Omaha media visit the Chamber helped facilitate.
