Angel Investment Tax Credits Part of Economic Development Package

Three years ago, the Greater Omaha Chamber began a concerted effort to improve the landscape and ecosystem for new ventures in the region. Those efforts included key legislative goals to benefit small and entrepreneurial businesses.

The efforts of the Chamber, together with numerous partners, resulted in legislation that includes tax credits for angel investors as part of an economic development package introduced on behalf of Gov. Dave Heineman.

The four-part Talent & Innovation Initiative should advance business innovation and strengthen workforce recruitment in Nebraska.

This legislation was a top priority for the Chamber in 2011.

Dacia Kruse, director of public policy and state issues worked closely with senators and the governor to ensure its passage.  In addition, Chamber members were involved in sharing first-hand knowledge of the benefits of the legislation.

On Friday, June 10, during a visit to Hayneedle, Inc. in Omaha, Gov. Dave Heineman highlighted the opportunities this legislation offers Nebraska businesses.

The hard work of many resulted in significant legislative success during the 2011 session.

Tom Chapman, the Chamber’s director of entrepreneurship and innovation, continues to collaborate with various members to transform Greater Omaha into a premier location for start-ups.
